Dolores J. Phillips (nee: Pawlak), 85, of Bayonne, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 16, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in North Branch, NJ, Dolores resided most of her life in Bayonne. She was employed for many years as a billing clerk with the True Transport Trucking Company in Newark, NJ, prior to their closing.
With a love for shopping and socializing, Dolores launched "Joyce's Handy Shopping Service" where she dedicated herself to assisting and shopping for the homebound and incapacitated seniors in Bayonne. Dolores was a strong advocated for the adoption of animals and her compassion for them was boundless. Her kindness and spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Dolores was predeceased by her beloved husband Edward in 2007, her parents, Stanley and Marion (Falandys) Pawlak, her sister Barbara Carole Choynowski and her brother in law Chester Choynowski. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Barbara A. Rossillo and husband Joseph, Kimberly A. Phillips and Edward S. Phillips; her nieces and nephews, Kathleen Cerosky and late husband Frank, Maureen O'Dea, Sharon Pagano and late husband Thomas, Chester Choynowski and wife Donna, and Robert Choynowski and wife Lisa. Also survived by many grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins, as well as her canine companion, Buster and her late grand-dog, Sancho.
Viewing hours will be held on Thursday, March 22, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A funeral mass in Dolores’s honor will be offered on Friday, March 23 at 10:45 am at St. Henry’s R.C. Church, 625 Avenue C, Bayonne. Interment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.
In lieu of flowers, donations are kindly requested to the St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center, 575 Woodland Avenue, Madison, NJ 07940. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
