Heronim (Henry) Galasiewicz, 90, from Bear, Delaware (formerly Bayonne), died on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at the Hospice Center of Christianity Hospital in New Castle, Delaware.
"Henry," as he was known by his family and friends, was born in Poland and emigrated to the United States in 1972. He resided in Boonton, Jersey City and Bayonne before settling in Delaware for the past 21 years.
Henry was employed as a warehouseman for both the Colgate Palmolive Company in Jersey City and the Maxwell House Corporation in Hoboken. He was also employed with the Archdiocese of Newark where he proudly served for many years as an organist in several parishes, which included: St. Casimir's Church in Newark, St. Anthony of Padua Church in Jersey City and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Bayonne.
Henry predeceased his son Piotr (1979); His parents, Piotr and Zofia (Zawistowska) Galasiewicz and his brother StanisÅ‚aw. Left to cherish the memory are his devoted wife of 62 ½ years, Halina (Tupaczewski) Galasiewicz, his son Jan and wife Gosia, grandson Seweryn, his sister Anna Galasiewicz and family of Poland; niece Barbara and husband Kazimierz of Bayonne, nephews: Paul Arthur and Peter, two brothers-in-law, Tadeusz and His wife Marta from Poland and Jerry from Boonton; and sister-in-law Nina Tupaczewski.
Visitation will take place at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home on Friday morning, May 3, from 8:15 am to 10:45 am. A funeral mass in Henry’s honor will be offered in Polish at 11:00. from the Parish of St. John Paul II at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 39 East 22nd Street, Bayonne. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
