Julia Coan Obituary

Julia Coan (nee: Mengert), 80, of Cranford, NJ, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at the Genesis HealthCare Facility in Westfield, with her loving family by her side. 

Born in Elizabeth, Julia resided in Roselle Park for many years before settling in Cranford.  Prior to her retirement in 2002, she was employed as a paralegal for more than 40 years by the law firms of McKenzie, Welt, Duane, Maher and North and Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP.

Julia’s love and devotion to her family always remained her top priority.  She was actively involved in many school, community, and civic activities in Roselle Park and Union County.  She will be missed and remembered as an amazing mother, nurturing grandmother and dear friend.

She was predeceased by her parents, Julius and Mary (nee: Bonse) Mengert and her brothers Arnold and Richard.  She is survived by her children and their spouses; Annamarie Morrison and husband Jack, Kristine Moran and husband Patrick, Skip (Edward) Coan and wife Susan, John Coan and wife Linda, Michael Coan and wife Carrie, James Coan and wife Lynda, and Thomas Coan; her cherished grandchildren; Meghan, Taylor and Brandon Coan, Ryne and Katie Morrison, Julia, Kayla and Jack Coan, Brittney and Bailey Coan and Calista and Colin Coan, her dear siblings William Mengert and his wife Ellie, Marion Boucher and her husband Charlie, her nephews Donald, Christopher and Scott Boucher and Craig Mengert and niece Sandy Richards.  

A visitation will be held at the Bradley-Haeberle and Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Ave. (corner of Vauxhall Rd. and Pine Ave., Union, NJ) on Wednesday, May 1, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm, with a religious service at 8:00 pm.  Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Julia’s memory to the Cranford Rescue Squad, 6 Centennial Ave., Cranford, NJ 07016.
