Aleksander Lyp, 71, of Bayonne, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 27, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.
“Alek”, as he was affectionately known by all, was born in Poland and came to the United States in 1990 where he settled with his family in Bayonne. Throughout his life he carried a strong work ethic and traditional old school values. In 1993 he and his wife Teresa established Alex and Terry’s Deli in Bayonne on the corner of 36th Street and Broadway in Bayonne, a business they both took tremendous pride in.
An avid outdoorsman, Alek was a member of the Atlas Yacht Club where his passion for boating and fishing was well known. Alek was an honorable man who will long be remembered for his generous nature and kind heart.
His legacy lives on in his two greatest loves, “his family and the business he built that continues on through them.”
Alek was predeceased by his parents, Theodore and Ludwika (Kirylok) Lyp. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 47 years Teresa (nee: Stepien); two sons, Grzegorz and wife Adriana; and Leo and wife Margaret; and one sister, Donna Machnowski and her late husband George.
A visitation will be held at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home on Monday, April 30, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Everyone is asked to assemble at 9:45 am on Tuesday, May 1, at St. John Paul II Parish of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church for funeral mass in Aleksander’s honor. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum, North Arlington, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be most appreciated. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Please note, there will be no visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday morning.
