Alina Szelazek (nee: Sulima), 92, of Bayonne, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Peace Care St. Joseph’s in Jersey City.
Born in Poland, Alina emigrated to the United States where she settled in Bayonne for the past 51 years. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a seamstress for the upscale women’s clothing retailer, Marguerite Dress Shop in Bayonne.
A devout parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, she was a member of the Polish Choir and a lifetime member of the Mt. Carmel Rosary Society. As a stockholder of the Polish American Home, Alina never missed the yearly meetings that were held, where her creative thinking and insight where valued and respected. Throughout the years she enjoyed leisure activities such as swimming at the YMCA and playing Bingo.
Alina was predeceased by her beloved husband of 68 years, Marian; her parents, Alexander and Pelagja (Truszkowska) Sulima; and her brothers, Waclaw, Tadeusz, and Heronim Sulima. Left to cherish her memory are her dear nephews, Zdzislaw (William) Sulima and his wife Monica and Tadeusz Sulima and his wife Barbara, and their families.
A visitation will be held at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home on Friday, September 20, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
A funeral mass in Polish will be offered in Alina’s honor on Saturday, September 21, at 9:30 a.m. from the Parish of St. John Paul II at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery, 654 Ferry Rd, Doylestown, Pa.
