Jan (John) Butrym

The world is a sadder place by the unexpected departure of John (Jan) Butrym on November 1, 2018.  Born September 24, 1982 in Secaucus, NJ, Jan lived all his life in Bayonne.

He was a 2001 graduate of St. Peter's Prep in Jersey City and earned a bachelor's degree in computer science from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.  A creative spirit and innovative thinker, Jan was always motivated and driven to succeed.  At age 16, he devoted his time between his studies and various projects at Prep.  

After graduation he began his full time career as an IT specialist at Prep. Jan was often the first to embrace new technology and was a problem solver and supporter to his colleagues and faculty members. His boundless energy and heart of gold will be missed beyond measure.

Jan is survived by his beloved mother, Jozefa (nee: Sliwak) Butrym; his loving sister, Margaret Golatowski and her husband Lukasz; his sisters father-in-law and mother-in-law, Andrzej and Jolanta Golatowski; his adored nephew Aleksander Golatowski; godmother Anna Fisher and her son Zach; aunts, Janina Butrym and Joan Ann Nathan, and cousins, Denise and Danielle Geraghty and Mark Hansen.  He is also survived by his extended family in Poland.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend viewing hours at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home on Thursday, November 8, and Friday, November 9, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.  A prayer service will be held on Saturday, November 10, at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.  Entombment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery & Mausoleum, Jersey City.
