Regina Chmara (nee: Kaniewski), 85, of Bayonne, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 26, 2019, with her loving family by her side. Born in Poland, she emigrated to the United States in 1950, residing most of her life in Bayonne.
Regina was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, where she was an active member of the Mt. Carmel Seniors and the Mt. Carmel Guild. A proud homemaker, Regina devoted her life to her family. She especially treasured moments spent with her six grandchildren, all of whom she loved and adored. She enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and spending time in her backyard gardening. Attending concerts with her daughters remained one of Regina’s favorite pastimes. This past December brought pure joy to her heart as she treated her family and friends to a performance by Andrea Bocelli. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and grace and will forever be missed.
The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to Mary Szemiot and Donna Curtis for all their help and moral support.
Regina was predeceased by her beloved husband Henry Chmara (in 2011), her son Walter Chmara, and parents Jan and Zofia (Jankowski) Kaniewski, her brother Roman Kaniewski, and her sisters and brothers in law, Mary Kaniewski, Chester Chmara, Janina Proszynski and husband Lech, Eugene Wojciechowski, Waclaw (Van) Chmara, and Henry Talarsky.
