Albin Hildebrandt Obituary

The world is a sadder place over the sudden and unexpected passing of Albin ("Binky") Hildebrandt, on Thursday, May 25, 2023.  Born in Jersey City, he lived in Bayonne for most of his life before relocating to West Creek, N.J.

Albin learned the value of hard work and integrity from a young age.  These traits would serve him well throughout his life, as he embarked on a rewarding position as a supervisor for Bimbo Bakeries in Greenwich, Connecticut, (formerly the Arnold Bread Company), until his retirement in 2017.

With an appreciation for nature and the outdoors, Albin looked forward to relaxing trips to Swartswood Lake, NJ, where he would fish in his leisure time.  He took great joy in maintaining his fish tanks as well as watching his backyard birds on the bird feeders which he kept filled daily.  He was also an ardent fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Philadelphia Phillies.

Known by all as a true gentleman with a big heart, Albin embraced life to the fullest.  As a loving brother and friend to all, he exemplified great faith and loyalty.  Although his passing leaves a profound void, his wonderful legacy will be remembered for all eternity by the countless lives he enriched.

Left to cherish Albin's memory are his loving sisters, Alena Hildebrandt and her companion Michael Kilarski and Marilyn Hildebrandt, his cousins, Chris Hildebrandt and Barbara Hildebrandt-Koralja, and his three longtime best buddies, Edward Walker, Edward MacNamara, and Gary Choka, as well as many additional cousins and friends.  Albin is predeceased by his parents, Albin John Sr. and Helen (nee: Mazur) Hildebrandt, his brother, Gerald P. Hildebrandt, and dear family friend, Marek Talkowski.

Visiting hours will be held at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home, 20 East 22nd Street, Bayonne, on Tuesday, May 30, from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. A funeral mass in Albin's honor will be offered on Wednesday, May 31, at 11:00 A.M. from the Parish of St. John Paul II, 39 East 22nd Street, Bayonne.  Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.

A letter from the sisters of Albin Hildebrandt

"Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always

hopeful, and endures through every circumstance."

These words from the Corinthians define how Alena and I felt about our beloved brother.  Our lives now and the lives of those who knew him are forever changed by his passing.  As we grieve, we will cherish the memories we have of him. Binky found much enjoyment in the merriness of celebrating and socializing with family and friends.  He had a passion for music, especially when he would perform and play hisguitar, thinking he was Kenny Rogers. He was a Beatles music lover to add.

Moreover, Binky was a witty and comedic character.  He had a comical, amusing side to him.  He saw humor in any situation…and that alone would make us all just laugh. (This came from the Mazur side of our family.)  And yet, Binky had a serious, loyal, and committed nature to his character as well.

This was exemplified by his daily commute to work from Bayonne, NJ to his workplace in Greenwich, Ct over the course of a solid 28 years. To this end, for those of us that knew him, Binky was a grizzly bear on the outside, but a cuddly, gentle bear on the inside.  He had a generous and big heart! He was proud of his 2 sisters, and we of him.  He will be dearly missed…our compassionateand always protective BIG brother, an endearing son, a close cousin, a giving and loyal friend and man.

You will remain forever in our hearts!

Your loving sisters,

Marilyn and Alena xo xo
