Ana Lamela passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Mallou Carnota, Spain, she immigrated to the United States in 1962, making Bayonne her home.
Throughout her remarkable career as a skilled seamstress, Ana began her journey at Maidenform Company in Bayonne for 20 years before moving to Wacoal Garment Company in New York City for 10 years. With meticulous attention to detail, she poured her heart into every garment she created, reflecting her unwavering commitment to quality and excellence.
Ana's greatest pride was her family, whom she treasured above all else. As a devoted homemaker, she found immense joy in cooking and baking, ensuring that every family gathering was special and filled with warmth while embracing life's simple pleasures.
Ana leaves a rich legacy filled with love, wisdom, and unforgettable moments that will resonate with her family, friends, and all fortunate enough to have known her. She was predeceased by her dearly beloved husband, Agustin (in 1989); her parents, Antonio Rama-Perez and Beinvenida Rama Caamano; her sister, Maria Gonzalez; her brothers-in-law, Manolo Gonzalez and Manolo Casais; and her daughter-in-law, Diane Lamela. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Alfredo and Mark Lamela; her adored grandchildren, Leo, Alexis, and Anthony; her sisters, Manuela Casais, Delores Quintela and her husband Joseph; her brother, Antonio Rama and his wife, Josephine, and their family.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family in celebrating Ana's life on Friday, January 17, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home, 20 East 22nd Street, Bayonne, NJ. Rev. Philip Sanders will officiate a religious service at 10:30 AM in the funeral home chapel. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum in North Arlington, NJ.
The family kindly requests those who wish to honor Ana's memory to consider making a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, supporting a charity close to their heart, or planting a tree in her name. Your thoughtful gesture will make a meaningful impact.
You Can Only Have One Mother
You can only have one Mother,
patient, kind, and true.
No other friend in all the world
will be the same to you.
When other friends forsake you,
to Mother, you will return,
for all her loving kindness,
she asks nothing in return.
As we look upon her picture,
sweet memories we recall,
of a face so full of sunshine,
and a smile for one and all.
Sweet Jesus, take this message,
to our dear Mother up above,
tell her how we miss her,
and give her all our love.
