After a life well lived, Anna Marie Magarban died peacefully in her sleep on December 22, 2022, at Bayonne Medical Center after a brief illness.
A loving and devoted homemaker, Ann's family remained her sole focus throughout her life. She was always self-sufficient (with some minor assistance) until her most recent illness.
Known for her impeccable sense of style and grace, she always insured that she was properly attired with a trip to the hairdresser every week without fail. She was an avid reader, digesting two newspapers each morning and picking out books from her library, with a special interest in biographies of stars of the silver screen. She loved movies of the 30s and 40s and watched one almost every evening. Ann tuned into the news several times a day and enjoyed game shows in her leisure time.
Ann was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Mary's Star of the Sea church for over 50 years and attended daily morning mass until age caught up with her. That didn't stop her, though, as she watched the mass every morning on TV and said her rosary every day.
Ann will be deeply missed and remembered as the proud matriarch of her family and a dear friend to the countless lives she enriched throughout the years.
Ann was predeceased by her husband, Frank. She is survived by her children Robert (Paula) Magarban, Joanne (Robert) Ehlers, and Peter (Hannah) Magarban, as well as her grandchildren, Thomas (Nicole) Magarban, Brian (Jen) Magarban, David (Kasia) Magarban, Cynthia Magarban, Kathryn (Jim) Higgins, Tammy Katon, and Chip Ali, 9 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
A visitation will be held at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home, on Tuesday, December 27, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral mass in Ann's honor will be held on Wednesday, December 28, at 11:00 a.m., from St. John Paul II Parish of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Ira Brooks, the nurses at Bayonne Medical Center, and the nurses from Grace Hospice for all of their compassionate care during Ann's brief illness. They would also like to thank the Bayonne Office on Aging staff for all of their help over the years.
