Arlene Jankowski Obituary

Arlene Jankowski, a lifelong Bayonne resident, passed away peacefully at home on December 14, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Arlene dedicated 13 years as an administrative assistant for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey before retiring in 1973.

With a talent for decorating, Arlene found fulfillment in turning her home into a beautiful haven, particularly during the holiday season making every celebration memorable and inviting for family and friends. In her spare time, she looked forward to her bowling league nights, where friendship and friendly competition among her teammates created a sense of unity and joy.

Arlene and her husband created lasting memories through exciting family vacations, exploring an impressive 48 states. These adventures enriched their experiences and deepened their family bond, making each journey meaningful. Arlene's legacy of love and unwavering kindness will remain in the hearts of her family and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Arlene was predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Mary (Zavila) Olszewski. Left to cherish her memory are her dearly beloved husband of 59 years, Ronald Jankowski; her daughter, Laura Lynn Paolino, and her husband, Robert; her son, Darren Keith Jankowski; and her 2 adored grandchildren, Max and Sophie Jankowski.

Safely Home

I am home in Heaven dear ones:

Oh, so happy and so bright!

There is perfect joy and beauty.

In this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over,

Every restless tossing passed:

I am now at peace forever,

Safely home in Heaven at last.

Did you wonder I so calmly

Trod the valley of the shade?

Oh! But Jesus' love illumined

Every dark and fearful glade.

There is work still waiting for you,

So you must not idly stand:

Do it now, while life remaineth-

You shall rest in Jesus' land.

When that work is all completed,

He will gently call you Home:

Oh, the rapture of that meeting,

Oh the joy to see you come!
