Barbara Ostroski Obituary

Barbara Anne Ostroski entered into eternal rest peacefully on July 18, 2025, at Jersey City Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Brooklyn, New York, she moved to Bayonne with her family at the age of 10 and lived there throughout her life.

Barbara Anne was a hardworking and devoted woman who built a long and successful career in the financial industry, spending over 50 years working for the Depository Trust Company and the Bank of New York, where she held the role of Technical Support Specialist until her retirement in 2009.

Barbara Anne found joy in reading, especially the Harry Potter series. She eagerly anticipated each new book release and loved watching the movies just as much, fully immersing herself in the characters and adventures.  She also had a passion for decorating her home, always adding personal touches with warmth and creativity.

One unforgettable moment in Barbara Anne’s life took place in the early 1970s at a Beach Boys concert in Asbury Park. As the band sang “Barbara Ann,” she was invited on stage to join them, creating a joyful and lively experience that she and her family spoke about for years. It was a shining reflection of the fun-loving energy she brought wherever she went.

Above all, Barbara Anne was the light of her family and treasured every moment they shared. She adored her grandchildren, embracing them with devotion and gentle guidance throughout their lives.

She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Martin Owens and Dorothea McEneany, her sister Dot Desmond, and her brother Martin Owens. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Anne Ostroski, and her longtime partner, Dean La Rosa; her three sons, Richard M. Ostroski and his wife Janice Ostroski, Peter Ostroski, and Michael Ostroski. She also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren, Nicholas, DeAngelo, Katelynn, and Cheyanne, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

To honor and remember the life of Barbara Anne, a memorial gathering will be held at the Dworzanski and Son Funeral Home on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. A Catholic religious service will be held during the calling hours.
