Bonita (Bonnie) Sperling, of Bayonne, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. Born and raised in Manhattan, New York, Bonnie relocated to Bayonne where she has resided for the past 20 years. Prior to her retirement in 2005, she worked as an administrative clerk for the law office of Paul Weiss, Rifkind & Wharton in New York City, a position she held for 19 years.
Bonnie’s love for animals was boundless and a lifelong comfort to her soul. She took tremendous pride in her 11 feline friends along with her Yorkshire Terrier Gabrielle, who she often referred to as her "little sidekick". She appreciated the beauty of nature while taking long walks in the park and feeding the birds and squirrels. She had a passion for shopping and enjoyed revisiting her old neighborhood in Manhattan along with wonderful trips to Coney Island.
To have known Bonnie was to love her. She will be long remembered as a woman of immeasurable kindness and will never be far from memories reach.
Bonnie was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Eleanor (nee: Marcus) Sperling. Left to cherish her wonderful legacy are beloved son Raymond Sperling, her stepson Salvatore Caccavale and his wife Kathy, and their sons, Vincent and Joseph as well as her stepsons parents, Salvatore and Susan, and four adored nieces. Also survived by her devoted caretaker Sue Dean.
Cremation will be private.
Afterglow
I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
And bright and sunny days
I’d like the tears of those who grieve,
To dry before the sun
Of happy memories that I leave
When life is done
