Carlos Alvaez Obituary

Carlos Alfredo Alvaez, 73, of Bayonne, enterered into eternal rest on April 20, 2020.  Born and raised in Guatemala, Carlos moved to the United States in 1973 residing in Bayonne.  He worked in the maintenance department for Bayonne Medical Center, a position he held for many years.

Carlos embraced life with extraordinary passion.  He enjoyed vacationing in California and taking trips to Chinatown and Englishtown where he was known for his talent of bargaining with the vendors.  During his leisure time he looked forward to relaxing visits to the beach and dancing to the tunes of Hotel California and Funkytown.  Above all, Carlos loved spending time with his family and especially doting over his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored.  He will remain in the hearts and minds of all those whose lives he touched.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Khrystyam, Martha, Rachell, Carlos Alvarez; grandchildren, Carolina Pérez, Kayla Reyes, Alex Alvarez, Evan Robson, and  Aniyah and Anthony Florio; and great-grandchildren, Logan Denny and Theodore Stanley, all of whom he loved and adored; his siblings: Lucky, Maura, Silvia, Vilma, Eveairdo, Yaaira, Magali, Lorena Alvarez, and many dear friends.

Cremation was private.   Please consider leaving a condolence message or lighting a candle on the tribute wall above in honor of  Carlos.  Your words of comfort may be just the light that the family needs during these trying times.  Reaching out reminds them they are not isolated, alone or forgotten.

HIS JOURNEY’S JUST BEGUN

Don’t think of him as gone away
his journey’s just begun,
life holds so many facets
this earth is only one.

Just think of him as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.

Think how he must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.

And think of him as living
in the hearts of those he touched…
for nothing loved is ever lost
and he was loved so much.
