Caroline Brandon, a lifelong resident of Bayonne, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Bayonne Medical Center with her loving daughter by her side.
Caroline worked as an administrative secretary for the Hudson County Department of Corrections, a position she held for 30 years before retiring in 2017.
Caroline’s passion for travel took her to many extraordinary destinations around the world, including Asia, Europe, South America, and Brazil.
Caroline held her family very dear to her heart and always looked forward to spending time visiting them, both near and far. Above all, her greatest pride and joy was her daughter, Suzanne, a reflection of love and the unbreakable bond they shared.
Caroline was predeceased by her beloved parents, Joseph and Theresa (Kampa) Rutkowski, and her sister, Theresa Blankenship. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Suzanne Brandon; her brother, Edwin Rutkowski, and his wife, Sandy; and her nephew, Robert Sullivan, and his wife, Margaret.
In honoring Caroline’s wishes, cremation will be private.
Afterglow
I’d like the memory of me
to be a happy one,
I’d like to leave an afterglow
of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo
whispering softly down the ways,
of happy times and laughing times
and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those
who grieve, to dry before the sun.
Of happy memories that
I leave when life is done.
