Charles R. Farrar, 84, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at Columbus Hospital, in Newark, NJ. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he resided most of his life in Bayonne.
Charles served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. After completing his military duties he worked as a letter carrier for 25 years for the United States Postal Service at the Bulk Mail Center in Jersey City, retiring in 1990.
Charles was an active member of AA, where he faithfully sponsored more than 50 members throughout the years.
With deep contentment for the simple things in life, Charles enjoyed his daily routines such as maintaining a strict vegetarian diet and enjoying the outdoors feeding the birds and caring for his feline friends. He was an avid sports fan of all college basketball and professional baseball with the Philadelphia Phillies being his all time favorite team.
Charles was predeceased by his beloved parents, Benedict and Dorothy (nee: Moore) Farrar, and numerous siblings. Left to cherish his memory are his brother, James Farrar, two nieces, Lori Farrar and Dana Cieslik and nephew Vincent Farrar.
A visitation will be held at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home, on Saturday, July 18, from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m., with a Catholic wake service at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Fr. Lukasz Kleczka of St. John Paul II Parish. Cremation will be privately held at Rosehill Crematory, Linden, NJ.
