Eleanor Mariano, 95, of Bayonne, passed away at home on Monday, February 13, 2017, with her loving family by her side. Born in Clymer, Pennsylvania, Eleanor has resided in Bayonne for many years.
Eleanor was a wonderful homemaker who devoted her life to her family. She looked forward to her weekly card games with friends and playing the game of “May I”. She was an active member of the Bayonne Chapter of Deborah and the Young at Heart Seniors Group. She will be missed by all, but her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Eleanor was predeceased by her beloved husband Arthur J. Mariano (in 1989), her son Gary Mariano; and her parents, Joseph and Helen (Ceplenski) Makowski; her sisters, Pearl Saliski, Catherine Turek, and Jean Maryanski; and her three brothers, Chester, Frank, and Henry Makowski. Left to cherish her wonderful legacy are her daughters, Vera Mariano, and Barbara Bogdan and her husband Jack; her son Arthur Mariano; her sister Irene Fogarty; and her grandchildren, Jason Iskra and his wife Sherry Hegel, Rachelle Mariano, Gregory Bogdan and his partner Anthony Vitale, and Janice Strugano and her husband Ron; and four great-grandchildren, Aliya, Jaelyn, and Kylie Iskra, and Alyssa Strugano.
A visitation will be held at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home, 20 East 22nd Street on Friday, February 17, from 6:00 pm. to 9:00 pm. A funeral mass in Eleanor’s honor will be held on Saturday, February 18, at 10:00 am at St. John Paul II Parish of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
In Lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Eleanor would be most appreciated. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
