Esperanza Diaz Obituary

Esperanza Diaz, a radiant soul and beacon of light, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, with her loving family by her side.  Born in Bogota, Colombia, she immigrated to the United States in 1964 and resided in Jersey City before making Bayonne her home many years ago.

Esperanza wholeheartedly embraced her role as a homemaker, dedicating herself to creating a warm and nurturing atmosphere. Her meticulously prepared, home-cooked meals filled every corner with delightful aromas. She eagerly anticipated the holiday season, especially Thanksgiving, which held great importance to her as it brought moments of togetherness and affection with her beloved family.

As an adoring Abuela, Esperanza found joy and meaning in witnessing her grandchildren's milestones and personal growth.  Her vibrant spirit and affection for them were evident in every moment spent together, whether laughing at heartwarming stories, sharing lighthearted jokes, or simply having fun with their favorite toys.

During her leisure time, Esperanza delighted in the thrill of testing her luck with scratch-off lottery tickets and slot machines in Atlantic City while also engaging in the satisfying challenge of solving word-search puzzles.

Esperanza's compassionate nature deeply touched the lives of many. Her unwavering dedication to prioritizing the well-being of others over her own needs was a true testament to her remarkable character. It is undeniable that the world was a better place because of her.

Esperanza was predeceased by her parents, Raul and Ligia (Rodriguez) Daza.  Left to cherish her memory are her children, Viviana Bruno (Moses), Greis Daza, Jacqueline Diaz, Jose Aragon (Ashley Corraliza), Bairon Serna (Elizabet), nine adored grandchildren, and one sister, Yolanda, in Colombia.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family in celebrating Esperanza's life on Tuesday, September 17, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.  Pastor Moises Bruno of The Monte Moriah Pentecostal Church in Passaic, N.J., will officiate a religious service at 5:30 PM in the funeral home chapel.

On Wednesday morning, September 18, at 10:30 AM, all are welcome to gather at the funeral home before taking leave to Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, where Esperanza will be laid to rest.

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done,
on earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Amen.
