Fernando Capio Obituary

Fernando M. Capio entered into eternal rest peacefully on April 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in the Philippines, Fernando made Bayonne his home after coming to the United States in 2011. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering from FEATI University and completed Diesel Engine Mechanic studies at Guzman Institute of Technology. Out of love and devotion to his family, he remained close to home to help care for his parents and tend to the family farm. It was there that he developed a strong work ethic, dependable nature, and humble spirit that remained with him throughout his life. He also gained the ability to repair and build just about anything he set his mind to, a gift he proudly passed on to his children and his son-in-law, Jordan, teaching them the value of hard work and responsibility, and how to live independent and successful lives. After building a life in Bayonne, Fernando was employed with Bookazine Corp. as a Building Maintenance Technician for over ten years, where he formed many lasting friendships with his coworkers and became known for his kindness and good nature.

Fernando had a true zest for life and embraced the things that brought him happiness and fulfillment, such as bike riding, gardening, woodworking, and crafting rings and ladles from coconut shells with remarkable skill and creativity. He had a passion for cooking, and together with his wife Maria, they made their home a welcoming place where family and friends were often brought together. Fernando also found great enjoyment in music, especially the songs of Eric Clapton, The Carpenters, and Bread, as well as playing softball and cheering on his favorite basketball team, the Spurs. He was artistic and intelligent, and enjoyed puzzles and mind-challenging games. Over the years, he had the opportunity to travel to Japan, Canada, and California, but returning to the Philippines to reunite with his siblings and extended family was especially meaningful to him.

Above all, Fernando’s world centered on his wife, who was his best friend, and his three daughters, who were proudly his “Daddy’s Girls.” The beautiful bond they shared was reflected in the time they treasured together, the everyday moments they enjoyed, and the deep love, warmth, and closeness that defined their family. His silly sense of humor and funny demeanor brought laughter to those around him, and even during his final months in the hospital, he continued to make funny faces, bringing smiles to his family.

Fernando was predeceased by his parents, Jose M. and Ester Capio. Left to cherish his memory are his dearly beloved wife, Maria Cecilia (Sosa) Capio; his loving daughters, Mariah Camille (Jordan), Mae Christabel, and Mariane Frances; his sisters, Gaudiosa and Elisa; his brothers, Gregorio and Eligio; his adored nieces and nephews; along with extended family members in the Philippines, dear friends, and coworkers from Bookazine.

Fernando leaves behind the example of a life lived with kindness, humility, and unwavering devotion. In recent years, he has grown in his faith, finding comfort and strength in prayer and in living as a devoted child of God. His good nature, gentle spirit, and the love he gave so freely will remain a lasting legacy in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him.

Visiting hours will be held at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home on Saturday, April 25, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Sunday, April 26, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with a service to be held by Reverend Jundy Bautista, Pastor of Revelation Church in Jersey City. Remembering Fernando M. Capio

I have fought a good fight,

I have finished my course,

I have kept the faith:

Henceforth there is laid up

the righteous judge,
