Genowefa (Genia) Toczynski passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. Born in Poland, she came to the United States in 1959, making Bayonne her beloved home for the past 66 years. Genia was employed by Inserra ShopRite of Bayonne as a deli clerk, where she worked for 28 years before retiring. During those years, she became a familiar and friendly face, always greeting everyone with a warm smile.
A communicant of St. John Paul II Parish, Genia lived her life guided by her strong religious faith and dedication to her church. She was a longtime member of the St. Cecelia Polish Choir, where her beautiful singing voice brought joy and inspiration to the celebration of Mass. She was also a proud member of the Mt. Carmel Guild, where she devoted her time to helping and supporting parish activities and strengthening the spirit of fellowship among its members.
Genia took great pride in preparing traditional Polish dishes that filled holidays and family gatherings with the comforting aroma of her cooking and the joy of her presence. After Sunday Mass, you could always count on her to prepare special meals that brought everyone together in warmth, laughter, and love.
Genia had a true green thumb and a remarkable gift for bringing life back to the plants she cared for. Whenever someone brought her one that was fading, they trusted in her gentle care to revive it. Through her patience and devotion, she nursed each one back to health and beauty, leaving them thriving once more under her touch. Above all else, Genia treasured the time spent with family, whether visiting loved ones in Wisconsin or sharing special moments near her home in Bayonne, especially with her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, all of whom she held dearly and close to her heart.
She was predeceased by her parents, Wincenty and Anna (Kirkiewicz) Toczynski; her sisters, Leonia Olowiak and her husband, Leo; Bronislawa Bruno and her husband, Charles; her brothers, Thaddeus and his wife Ewa, William and his wife Margaret, and Walter Toczynski; Left to cherish her memory are her sister-in-law, Jadzia (Heidi) Toczynski (Walter); her niece, Jadzia (Heidi) Mages and her husband, Michael; her nephew, Richard Toczynski, and his wife, Lynda; along with many adored grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, and dear friends.
A visitation will be held at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home, 20 East, 22nd Street, Bayonne, on Thursday, October 16, and from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
