Helen Narel Obituary

Helen Narel (nee: Makowski) passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at the Alexandria Manor in Bethlehem, Pa.  Helen was a lifelong resident of Bayonne before relocating to Bethlehem three years ago.  Prior to her retirement she was a gifted seamstress for various Bayonne businesses including, Bender Brothers, the Pioneer Associates and the Maidenform Company.  She was also a Union Representative for International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union.

Throughout the years Helen was an active member of the Altar Society of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, the Mt. Carmel Seniors, the Richard A. Rutkowski Association, and the Queen Wanda Society. 

Helen was predeceased by her dearly beloved husband Edmund Narel (in 2001), her parents, Walter and Valentina (nee: Palmowska) Makowski, her son Edmund Narel, and daughter Loretta Szaro, two sisters, Stephanie Guagenti and Regina Grzyb, brother Joseph F. Makowski, her son-in-law, Edward Szaro and her grandson, John Myhre.  Left to cherish her memory are her daughters,  Elaine Myhre and husband John, and Jacqueline Marino and one brother, Walter Makowski.  Also survived by nine grandchildren, Paul and Douglas Szaro, Cynthia Ockay, Patricia Mueller, Traci Peri, Jason and Kristen Marino, Tiffani and Anthony Narel, and eight great-grandchildren.

Services and interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ, will be private.  Please consider leaving a condolence message or lighting a candle on the tribute wall above.  Your words of comfort may be just the light that the family needs during these trying times.  Reaching out reminds them they are not isolated, alone or forgotten.
