Irene (nee: Karecki) Kochanek, 90, a lifelong resident of Bayonne, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Bayonne Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Irene was employed as a machine operator with the Best Foods Corporation in Bayonne, a position she held for 35 years prior to her retirement in 1984. Irene enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored.
Irene was predeceased by her beloved husband Edward S. Kochanek Sr. in 2011; her parents, Anthony and Anna (Niedzwiecka) Karecki; her brother Anthony Karecki and her sisters, Harriet Kellehan, Lottie Jakubik, and Genevieve Karecki. Left to cherish her memory are her devoted daughter Christine; her dear son Edward Jr. and his wife Lorelei; her brother Robert Karecki; her four grandchildren, Edward Kochanek III and his wife Elena, Adrienne, Audrey, and Eric Kochanek; her great-grandson, Walter Edward Kochanek, and many nieces and nephews. Also survived by her longtime companions, Wanda Bishow and Steve Chrisomalis.
A visitation will be held at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home on Monday, January 23, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral mass will be offered in Irene’s honor on Tuesday, January 24, at St. John Paul II Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 39 East 22nd Street, Bayonne. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
