James John Moore, age 74, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Saturday, November 29, 2025. Born in New York City, in an area known in those days as "Hell’s Kitchen". He later lived in Union City and Jersey City before settling in Bayonne, where he made his home for 34 years.
James was a hardworking man whose strong work ethic guided him throughout his life. Before his retirement, he worked for 38 years with the New Jersey Transit Authority in Kearny as an air brake mechanic, where he was respected for his commitment and reliability. In his spare time, he enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams, the New York Yankees and the New York Giants.
James had a deep and abiding love for his family, and his devotion to them was unwavering. He especially adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. He will be remembered as a kind and humble man and his presence will be missed for all eternity.
James was predeceased by his parents, James and Kathleen Joyce (Enright) Moore, his brothers John and Thomas Moore, and his brother-in-law, David Hackling. Left to cherish his memory by his dearly beloved wife, Mary Ellen (Elliott) Moore, his daughter, Dianna Moore, and her husband, Angel; his son, James Robert Moore, and his wife, Nicole; his sister, Barbara Hackling, six grandchildren, JJ, Anthony, Angelina, Jadalyn, Gene, and Madison; two great-grandchildren, Mia and Mason.

I Must Go
I must go, don’t weep for me,
For I have finally won the victory.
Don’t look upon me and be sad,
Let your heart rejoice and be glad
For I have finally won the race
And I am gone to a better place.
With new strength and courage
I must hurry on
And the burdens of life seem far beyond.
Now the children have grown
and gone their way
And the angels called me on that day…
But with blessings from my God above
I feel so filled with His eternal love.
