Joan K. McLaughlin, RN, a resident of Spotswood, NJ, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017 with her loving family by her side. Born in Pleasantville, New York, Joan lived in Bayonne for many years before settling in Spotswood for the past 40 years.
Joan was a graduate of Holy Family Academy, St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing, St. Joseph's College, and Wharton School of Business. She retired in April of 2016 as a registered nurse, a career she proudly held for over 50 years. Joan saved countless lives during her years of service both on duty and off. She worked at Western Electric in Kearny, NJ, at AT&T Corp. as a Regional Nurse Mgr. and retired from the Juvenile- Justice Commission Rutgers UMDNJ as a Lead Nurse.
Joan was predeceased by her parents Marion Kafarski Kinch and Floyd Kinch. Left to cherish her memory are her son Thomas J. McLaughlin, daughter-in-law Andrea; and her beloved granddaughters Sara and Melissa.
A visitation will be held at Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home on Monday, February 20, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral mass in Joan’s honor will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 10:00 am. at St. John Paul II Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 39 East 22 Street, Bayonne. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum, South Brunswick, NJ.
In Lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Joan's memory would be most appreciated. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
