John A. Bilak, a lifelong Bayonne resident, entered into eternal rest peacefully at home on Monday, October 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
John devoted over two decades to his role as forklift operator for the New Haven Distribution Trucking Company in Kearny, where his strong work ethic and dedication left a lasting impression before his well-earned retirement six years ago.
John enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, often spending warm summer days crabbing along the Jersey Shore and getaways to Wildwood, where laughter and good times were always part of the experience.
A devoted sports enthusiast, John passionately rooted for the New York Giants and the New York Yankees, showing his unwavering loyalty to his favorite teams. John also found joy in music, often playing his guitar and filling the room with familiar tunes that reflected his easygoing nature and gentle spirit. John’s warm smile and quick wit brightened the lives of those around him, reflecting his humor, kindness, and the warmth he shared so freely.
He was predeceased by his dearly beloved wife of 48 years, Margaret (Fabula) Bilak, and his parents, Michael and Hannah (Delaney) Bilak. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Jennifer Chi and her husband John, his son Travis Bilak and his wife Megan, his sisters Hannah Magarban and her husband Peter, Ethel Baczyk and her husband Richard, and his brothers William Bilak and his wife Donna, and Michael Bilak and his wife April, and his six adored grandchildren, Logan, Peyton, Brayden, Caleb, Quinn, and Nolan, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at the Dworzanski and Son Funeral Home on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A private cremation will follow at the Rosehill Crematorium in Linden on Friday, October 24.
WHAT MAKES A DAD
God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer’s sun,
The calm of a quiet sea.
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle’s flight.
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family’s need.
Then God combined these qualities
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete
And so He called it Dad.
