John Edward Kuchler Jr., 68, a lifelong Bayonne resident, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2020 at Jersey City Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. John was a machine operator for the Manischewitz Company in Jersey City, prior to that he worked for the City of Bayonne in the Sanitation Department and then as a maintenance engineer for Jersey City State College.
John took pride in his ancestors and the fact that he was part Apache Indian and his great-grandfather was an Apache Chief. He enjoyed listening to Native American music and was an avid collector of Native American artifacts, a hobby that was a major part of his life. With a keen interest in paleontology, John looked forward to attending lectures his daughter gave at the Liberty Science Center. In his leisure time he enjoyed walks around the city and the suspense of horror movies.
John was predeceased by his parents, John E. Kuchler Sr. and Ann Marie Kuchler (nee: Gallagher), his sister Jo Ann Kuchler Lesczenski, and his mother and father-in-law, Albinus F. and Anna M. Bernotas (nee: Grigalunias). Left to cherish his memory are his dearly beloved wife of 39 years, Judith Kuchler (nee: Bernotas) cherished daddy to his daughter Judy Ann Kuchler-Bickford and dear father-in-law to Edward E. Bickford, who was more like a son.
A visitation will be held at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home, 20 East 22nd St., Bayonne, on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral mass will be offered at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 24, at St. John Paul II Parish of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, followed by a private cremation at Rosehill Crematory, Linden, NJ.
