Jolanta Golatowska Obituary

Jolanta Elzbieta Golatowska, entered into eternal rest peacefully at home on Thursday, March 10, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Warsaw, Poland, Jolanta emigrated to the United States in 1994.  She resided in Brooklyn, NY and South Orange, NJ then ultimately moved and resided in Bayonne for the past 25 years.  Before her retirement, she held various positions throughout the years including a 10-year career as an editor for the Nowy Dziennik Polish Weekly Newspaper in New York City, and devoted herself to her work as a private nanny.  She also applied her unique culinary skills to the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Rectory where she was a cook for several parish priests.

A devout Catholic, Jolanta's strong and unwavering faith in God provided her the foundation to live her life with purpose, gratitude, and grace.  She remained active and supportive to her church where she served as a Eucharistic minister, church lector, chairwoman for the Corpus Christi Altars, and without hesitation was always available to help organize the yearly parish picnics.  She spent over 15 years as a dedicated teacher with the Polish Supplementary School of Wladyslaw Reymont and was also a past member of the Kolo Nowej Polonii.

Jolanta radiated warmth, love, and inspiration to her family and friends and will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by them all.  Left to cherish her memory are her dearly beloved husband of 41 years, Andrzej Golatowski; her two sons, Lukasz and his wife Margaret, and Krzystof and his wife Beata; three adored grandsons, Jan, Aleksander, and Maksymillian, and her cousin, Ewa Codini.

A funeral mass in Polish will be held in Jolanta's honor on Wednesday, March 16, at 10:30 am at St. John Paul II Parish, 39 East 22nd St., Bayonne.  Entombment will follow at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery, Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
