Jose Ocasio Obituary

The family of Jose Antonio Ocasio announces with deep sorrow his passing on May 6, 2024. Jose was born in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico, on August 13, 1959, to parents Jose E. Ocasio Sr. and Maria C. Pagan. At age 10, he and his family moved to Bayonne, where he had settled for most of his life.  He worked as a grounds laborer for many years for Ken's Marine Service Inc. and Angus Tank Cleaning Company in Bayonne.

Jose was a true outdoorsman who found solace in warm sunny days at the 16th Street bulkhead in Bayonne, where he would fill his basket with Jersey Blue Crab Claws. His artistic flair was unmatched by his unique ability to transform his visual ideas into beautiful works of art that were treasured by many. Jose was also an avid boxing fan.

Above all else, Jose undeniably loved his family and exemplified great faith and loyalty to those around him. His legacy, a testament to his vibrant life, will be cherished for all eternity through his proud and loving family and the countless people who were fortunate to know him. He is survived by his four daughters, Latica Sibley, Angelica Maresca, Linda Kegel, and Lea O'Gara; his three sons, Emilio A. Ocasio, Joel Perez, and Joey Lyons; his companion, Diana Carreras; two sisters, Luz Ocasio and Nancy Lopez; two brothers, Hannel Rodriguez and Nelson Pagan, 13 adored grandchildren and many dear nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his parents, Jose E. Ocasio Sr. and Maria C. Pagan, and his siblings, Carmen Iris Coss, Myrna Santiago, Nilda Ivette Ocasio, and Jose E. Ocasio Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to join Jose's family on Friday, May 17, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home to share and cherish Jose's life memories.

A private cremation will be held at the Rosehill Crematory in Linden, NJ.

Remember me whenever you see a sunrise.
Remember me whenever you see a star.

Remember me whenever you see a rainbow,
or woods in Autumn colors from afar.
Remember me whenever you see roses,
or seagulls sailing high in a sky of blue.

Remember me whenever you see waves
shining in the sun. Remember me and
I’ll be remembering you!

Remember me
whenever you see a teardrop or meadows
still wet with morning dew. Remember
