Joseph George Koval Sr., entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 6, 2021, at Jersey City Medical Center. Born in Jersey City, Joe moved to Bayonne in 1962, where he attended local schools and excelled on the track team at Bayonne High School.
Joe developed a strong work ethic at an early age that inspired him to achieve great success in life. Through hard work and determination, he became a self-employed custom builder/remodeler for various restaurant establishments.
Known as "Cadillac Joe" he had a true passion for restoring vintage Cadillacs to their pristine condition and reselling them to collectors and individuals who had an appreciation for modern classics. With an undeniable talent for problem-solving and getting things done, he was the ultimate "Mr. Fix It"
Joe had an outstanding reputation for running the best and most successful garage sales in town. No matter what it was you had in mind to buy, without a doubt, "Garage Sale Joe" would never disappoint, as he was the guy who had it all.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed listening to various types of music, especially the Golden Oldies, the '60s, '70s, '80s, and all tunes from Frank Sinatra, where he often quoted the infamous line "I Did It My Way". He was a skilled pool player and captain of the Big Apple Billiards Club and coached for the Knights of Columbus Pool League.
Joe was predeceased by his parents, George Sr., and Mary (Melia) Koval. Left to cherish his memory are his dearly beloved wife of 27 years, Susan (Schmidt) Koval, and his loyal canine Chocolate Lab, Coco.
Friends only are invited to celebrate Joe's life at a memorial gathering on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home from 2:00 to 6:00 pm, with a Catholic religious service at 3:30 pm, officiated by Fr. Lukasz Kleczka of St. John Paul II Parish.
