Josephine Mincieli (nee: Sokolow), 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at Bayonne Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Born in Jersey City, she resided most of her life in Bayonne.
A graduate of Bayonne Hospital School of Nursing, Josephine went on to enjoy a rewarding and successful nursing career throughout the years with Bayonne Hospital and the Military Ocean Terminal as well as head nurse for the United States Postal Service, Kearny. Josephine developed an exceptional flair for oil painting, where her beautiful works of art graced the walls of her home with a special meaning and were sold to many people who appreciated her talent. In her leisure time she enjoyed quilting, a passion she was particularly fond of. She was a member of the Bayonne Hospital Nurses Association, the Art Club for Senior Citizens, and the Royal Arcanum.
Josephine was predeceased by her beloved husband, Patrick P. Mincieli Sr. (2018), her dear son, Patrick P. Mincieli Jr. (1999), parents, Joseph and Bertha (nee: Grzyb), Sokolow, and one brother, Joseph Sokolow Jr., Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Donna Marie Butto and her husband Lawrence, two sisters, Barbara Lohr and Bernadine Brooks, three grandchildren, Marissa and her husband Joseph Cossolini, Ronald and Amanda Jo Butto, and two great-grandchildren, John and Joseph Cossolini.
A visitation will be held at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home, on Monday, July 20, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be offered on Tuesday, July 21, at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Miriam Teresa Demjanovich Parish at St. Andrew's R.C. Church, Bayonne. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, N.J.
