Julie (Korzunowicz) Smoktunowicz, age 89, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ, surrounded by the love of her devoted son.
Born in Poland, Julie immigrated to the United States many years ago, making Bayonne her home. In her early years in Poland, she dedicated herself to teaching elementary school, where she instilled in her students a deep appreciation for education and its values. Later on, she embraced the role of a proud homemaker, finding immense purpose in nurturing and caring for her family.
A communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Julie maintained a strong commitment to her faith, drawing strength and solace from the celebration of Mass. Even when health challenges made it difficult for her to attend in person, she remained devoted, participating from home by watching Catholic services on television, particularly on EWTN.
In her free time, Julie found joy in reading books that captivated her imagination, indulging in game shows, and challenging word puzzles.
Julie will be remembered as an extraordinary woman whose legacy of love and unwavering faith will endure in the hearts of all whose lives she touched.
She was predeceased by her dearly beloved husband, Peter (Piotr) Smoktunowicz; her parents, Kazimierz and Maria (Turecka) Korzunowicz; her sisters, Bronisława and Czesława; her daughter-in-law, Joanne Flora; and her brother-in-law, Henryk.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted son, Jay Smoktunowicz, her adored grandchildren, Victoria and Alec; her sister Walentyna, and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 8:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. A Funeral Mass will follow at St. John Paul II Parish of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 39 East 22nd Street, Bayonne, NJ, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place at Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
MODLITWA
O ŁASKAWE Serce Jezusa zawsze obecne w
przenajświętszym Sakramencie wciąż palące
gorącą miłością ku duszom w czyśćcu, zmiłuj
się nad tymi duszami i wprowadź je z cierpień
czyśćcowych do radości życia niebieskiego
gdzie mamy nadzieję że Ty i Twa
Błogosławiona Matka, przygotowaliście dla
nich koronę radości wieczystej. Amen.
PRAYER
O GENTLEST Heart of Jesus, ever present in
