Kathleen Rooney Obituary

Kathleen (Kathy) Rooney (nee: Wenrich), 73, passed away on November 20, 2020, at Bayonne Medical Center with her loving husband by her side. Born in Jersey City, she resided most of her life in Bayonne.

Kathy was employed at the Bayonne Military Ocean Terminal as a file clerk, a position she held for several years. Her favorite pastimes included playing Bingo, trips to Atlantic City, and relaxing getaways at the beach. Kathy developed a creative talent by making her own beautifully designed curtains that she proudly decorated her home with. She also had the unique ability to fix just about anything around the house that she set her mind to and was known as “Johnny do it all”. Kathy was an animal lover who opened her heart and home to nurture many pets throughout the years. She had an equally great passion for her beloved ducks, “Gerty the Birdie”,who passed away 10 years ago, and her surviving duck “Quackers”, an Indian Runner with a spirited personality.

Kathy will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.  She was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Dorothy (nee: Guntz) Wenrich. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 55 years, John; daughter Corrine; two brothers, Paul Wenrich and wife Judith and Kenneth Wenrich; and two brothers-in-law, Mike and William Rooney.

As per Kathy’s wishes, cremation was privately held.

Afterglow

I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.

I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.

I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,

Of happy times and laughing times

And bright and sunny days.

I’d like the tears of those who grieve,

To dry before the sun

Of happy memories that I leave

When life is done
