Leon Malinowski, of Bayonne, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, with his loving family by his side. Born in Poland, Leon immigrated to the United States in 1974, settling in Bayonne for the past 47 years. He began a long and successful career as a welder in both Poland and the United States.
An avid reader with a thirst for knowledge, Leon enjoyed having conversations on various topics ranging from American history and geography to current events. Throughout his life, he embraced friendships past and present and had the natural ability to make everyone feel at ease in his presence.
Leon’s unwavering faith in God and the love and prayers of family and friends carried him through some of life’s toughest challenges. He was a man of undeniable strength and had compassion for all animals. His family was his world and his love for them was boundless. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and their accomplishments in life and treasured time spent with them.
Leon was predeceased by his parents Wojciech and Eudoksja (Moroz) Malinowski, and his 7 siblings. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 60 years, Helena (Jozwiak) Malinowski, his children, and their spouses, Marzena Jamroz (Boguslaw) and Peter Malinowski (Anna), and his six adored grandchildren, Daniel, Paulina, and Justin Jamroz, and Diana, Christopher, and Thomas Malinowski. Also survived by many extended family members in Poland, with whom he kept in close contact with.
A visitation will be held at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home on Thursday, September 30, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass in Leon’s honor will be offered in Polish on Friday, October 1, at 10:30 am, from the Parish of St. John Paul II at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, officiated by Fr. Lukasz Kleczka. Interment will follow at The Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery, Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
