The family of Leopoldo Bourdett announces with deep sorrow his passing on October 6, 2023. Leopoldo was born in Guatemala on September 6, 1955 to parents Leopoldo and Zoila (Milian) Bourdett. In 1973 he came to the United States where he settled in Bayonne for most of his life.
Leopoldo served his country proudly and honorably in the United States Army Reserve for 8 years. He held longtime positions as a maintenance mechanic with Kenrich Petrochemicals Inc. in Bayonne and Sun Chemical in Newark. He then became the proprietor of L&M Refrigeration in Jersey City.
Leopoldo found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, most notably when watching his favorite sports on TV such as boxing and soccer, as well as karaoke, dancing and spending time with his family. His passion and determination in martial arts earned him a 1st degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
Leopoldo will be remembered as a man who exemplified great faith and loyalty. His legacy will be cherished for all eternity and live on through his proud and loving family and the countless people who were fortunate to know him. He is predeceased by his parents, Leopoldo and Zoila (Milian) Bourdett, his siblings, Adela Bonilla, and Carlos, and brothers-in-law, Marco Bonilla and Jose Jerez. He is survived by his daughter, Kristyn and her husband Rev. Ryan Faison, his three sons, Paul Bourdett and his wife Patricia, Jonathan Bourdett and his wife Teresa Yi-Bourdett, and Douglas Bourdett; two sisters, Mayra Jimenez and her husband, Angel, and Silvia Jerez, three brothers, Luis Bourdett, Mario Bourdett and his wife Sonia, and Jorge Bourdett and his husband Glen Wickersham, his four adored grandchildren, Daniel, Bella and Cole and Pace, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 10, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A religious service will be conducted during evening hours by Leopoldo's son-in-law, Rev. Ryan Faison from Christ Church of Clifton.
All are welcome to meet at the funeral home on Wednesday morning October 11 at 9:00 AM to take leave for interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ.
