Louis V. Jijak Sr., 97, of Branchburg, NJ, formally of Bayonne, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at the home of his son Paul, who was by his side. Louis was born in Bayonne where he resided most of his life until relocating to Branchburg this past year.
Louis served his country with pride and honor in the United States Army during WWII, attaining the rank of Sergeant. After his discharge from military duty he was employed as a boilermaker/blacksmith in the ship building industry with the Boilermakers Union of Bayonne for over 20 years, retiring in 1982. Louis was a member of the Joyce-Herbert VFW Post 226.
Louis was predeceased by his beloved wife Henrietta (Kiernan) Jijak (in 2010), his dear son Louis Jijak Jr. (in 2016), his parents Stanislaw and Amelia (Miskiewicz) Dziek; his his sister Jean Rowley; his brother William Jijak; and his daughter in law Colleen. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Paul Jijak and Stanley Jijak; and his adored grandson Maximillan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home, 20 East 22nd Street, Bayonne, on Friday, January 6, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a catholic wake service at 10:45 am. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
