Marcelina Ramos of Bayonne, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Tuesday, August 9, 2022.
Born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, Marcelina, and her family moved to Brooklyn, New York when she was four years old, and resided there for many years before she made Bayonne her new home 23 years ago. She began her career in the education field as a teacher’s aide and taught at various preschools in the Brooklyn area. For the next several years she worked as a teacher’s assistant at Bailey School in Bayonne followed by a ten-year position as a receptionist for the Jewish Community Center.
Every goal Marcelina pursued in life she did to perfection. She found peace and tranquility writing poetry and had an artistic flair for painting and drawing. Musically gifted, she excelled at playing the guitar and organ. She used her gifted talents to make a difference in the lives of the many children who were positively influenced by her over the years.
In her spare time, Marcelina enjoyed the comforts of home watching the Game Show Network and her favorite sitcom, "Friends". She was an avid gardener with a unique ability to make distressed plants and flowers flourish again through her patience and nurturing. She was known for her energetic spirit while spending time with her friends and family.
Marcelina was the proud matriarch of her close-knit family and considered them all the greatest blessing and privilege of her life. With a passion for cooking, her recipes were outstanding and appreciated. She treasured holiday get-togethers and special events and provided everyone with a sense of warmth and a feeling of comfort. She demonstrated endless and unwavering love and encouragement to each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she shared an incredible bond.
Those who knew Marcelina best will remember a gentle woman with wisdom and compassion who put others before herself and never hesitated to help a person in need through her generosity whether she knew them personally or not.
Marcelina will be missed beyond measure but her remarkable legacy will no doubt carry on through her loving family and dear friends.
Marcelina was predeceased by her parents, Agapito and Ara Celia Jimenez, two sisters, Yvette and Elizabeth, and her brother, Freddie. Left to cherish her memo are her devoted husband of 52 years, Manuel Ramos, her daughters, Marisol Nieves (Angel), and Elizabeth Ramos, her son, Manuel Ramos Jr. (Dale Shah), and her siblings, Miriam, Christine, Iris, Annette, Richard, and Francisco; her adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Cory, Angel Justin, Celina, Jasmine, Keila, Amaya, Jace, and Cameron.
Visitation will be held at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home on Monday, August 15, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and evening hours from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Catholic prayer service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, August 16, at 9:30a.m., followed by interment at Rosehill Cemetery in Linden, N.J.
