Maria J. Anuszewski

Maria J. Anuszewski, a lifelong resident of Bayonne, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2024, with her loving family by her side.  Before her retirement in 2009 she worked as a transcriber for Bayonne Medical Center.  Prior to that, she worked in the banking industry. 

Gentle, kind, and loving, Maria's compassionate nature resonated deeply with those who knew her best.  She was a proud supporter of charitable organizations including the ASPCA and the North Shore Animal league to name a few.  Her heart belonged to her two beloved feline companions "Missy" and "Tigger", both of whom brought immense joy to her life.  Maria's favorite pastimes included playing BINGO, shopping, enjoying the comforts of home, and above all, laughing and embracing life's simple pleasures. 

Left to cherish her memory are her sister-in-law, Susan Anuszewski, her niece, Michele Moody, her nephews, Michael Anuszewski, Thomas Moody, her great-niece Katelyn Moody, her caregiver, Pat Rizzo, 2 siblings, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Salvatore and Marion (Tagliareni) Maggio, her sister-in-law, Theresa Anuszewski, and brother-in-law, Ted Anuszewski.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, January 8, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.  A funeral mass in Maria's honor will be held on Tuesday, January 9, at 10:30 a.m. from the Parish of St. John Paul II at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 39 East 22nd Street, Bayonne. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ.
