After a life well lived, Marie C. Murowski (nee: Szymanski), a lifelong Bayonne resident, entered into eternal rest peacefully at home on November 25, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.
Before her retirement in 1987, Marie worked as a teacher’s aide for 10 years at the A. Harry Moore School in Jersey City where she dedicated herself to assisting students with physical, medical and cognitive disabilities. She was previously employed as a purchaser for the Bayonne Naval Base for many years.
Devoted to her Catholic faith, Marie was a communicant of St. John Paul II Parish (Our Lady of Mt. Carmel) where she was a member of the Rosary Society. She was also an active volunteer with the Bayonne Chapter of Deborah Foundation where she was particularly well known for volunteering at the weekly Bingo events. As an avid NY Yankees fan, she enjoyed her favorite team and very seldom missed a game.
Marie felt very fortunate to have been able to travel to destinations both domestic and abroad including Hawaii, Poland, and her most memorable trip to Rome where she had the great honor of shaking hands with Pope John Paul II.
Above all else, Marie took tremendous joy in family time and cooking and baking especially during the holiday season. She was a proud and loving grandmother and great-grandmother who was lovingly known as "Babci". She looked forward to attending and cheering for her grandchildren at their various sporting events, activities and school concerts. She was the proudest Babci ever who took her role in the highest regard and her love for all of them was boundless.
Marie was an exemplary role model to all who knew and loved her and her loving spirit will live on for all eternity.
Predeceased by her dearly beloved husband of 62 years, Anthony W. Murowski; parents, Wojciech and Stephanie Szymanski, sisters, Genevieve Kaczka and Helen Kopacz, and brothers, Joseph, Dr. Chester, Edward, and Stephen A. Szymanski. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Andrea Murowski, sons, Carl (Susan) Murowski, Paul (Vivian) Murowski, and Robert (Karen) Murowski; grandchildren, Sarah, Melanie, Amy, Mark, Melissa (Michael) Morano, Michelle (Joseph) Lupo, Jennifer, and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Michael, Joseph, and Giuliana.
A visitation will be held at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home, on Sunday, November 28, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Relatives and friends will meet at the funeral home on Monday morning November 29, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in Marie's honor at 12:00 noon at St. John Paul II Parish of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 39 East 22nd Street, Bayonne. Interment will follow at the family plot at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Deborah Hospital Foundation, would be most appreciated.
