With heavy hearts, the family of Matthew Rydzewski announces his sudden and unexpected passing on February 25, 2025. A lifelong resident of Bayonne, Matt dedicated many years of professional service as a bulk oil field operator at IMTT in Bayonne.
Fueled by his passion for baseball, Matt eagerly embraced every opportunity to attend Yankees games with his friends, which intensified his love of the sport. Matt excelled in video gaming, showcasing his unique skills that truly set him apart. His enthusiasm didn't stop there; he built an impressive collection of memorabilia, including Funko Pop figurines alongside an assortment of baseball, basketball, and Pokémon cards.
Above all else, Matt had a remarkable gift for bringing happiness and laughter to those around him. He was known for his sharp wit and infectious sense of humor, which made him the heart and soul of every gathering. His love for his family was unwavering and undeniable, and he deeply valued his lifelong friendships. His beloved dog, Toby, who sadly passed away years earlier, was more than just a pet; he was a loyal companion who brought immense light and joy to Matt’s life.
Matt's untimely passing leaves an aching void in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him. Yet, his vibrant spirit and the warmth he radiated will continue to inspire and resonate.
Matt was the loving son of the late Anthony Rydzewski. He is survived by his devoted mother, Barbara Rydzewski (Wielechowski), who held a special bond with her son that will forever be cherished. He is also survived by two uncles, Monsignor Jerzy Wielechowski and Wlodzimierz Wielchowski; his aunt, Jadwiga Bogusz; two cousins, Alina Kulesza and Zdzislaw Szewczak. Matt was a sincere one-of-a-kind friend to many including Michal Kucza, Krzysztof Kucza, Casey Blake, Brendyn Godesky, Michael Alburtus, Matthew StraĆa, Brianna Bilotta, Karey McHugh, Mateusz Motus, Tom Larkin, Sean Gaeta, Steve Gaeta, Mohammed Abdalla, Danny Liming, Danny Melnick, Connor Glover, Ricky Joynt, Joseph Gillen, and Dave Jakubowski. Together, these friends will remember Matt for the meaningful connections they shared throughout the years.
A visitation will be held at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 5, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A funeral mass in tribute to Matt will be celebrated on Thursday, March 6, at 10:30 AM at St. John Paul II Parish (Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church), 39 East 22nd Street, Bayonne. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ.
