Maurice Henriquez Jr. Obituary

The family of Maurice L. “Fero” Henriquez, announces with very heavy hearts his sudden and unexpected passing on Tuesday, November 10, 2020.  Born and raised in Bayonne, he was a graduate of Phillip G. Vroom School and High Tech High School in North Bergen.

With relentless energy and remarkable intelligence, Maurice began a successful career in the world of Professional Gaming where he was known by the name “Fero”.  He traveled the world extensively competing in tournaments in Las Vegas, California, Ohio, Canada and England, to name a few.  Maurice held an impressive record as a 3 time first place champion in one season.  He went on to become a member of several different Esports teams over the years, including Ground Zero and DooM Clan at CWL New Orleans.

Fero joined the Florida Mutineers for the inaugural season of the Call of Duty League.  On March 7th, 2020, ESPN Esports Staff Writer, Emily Rand, interviewed Fero for a segment on ESPN Esports YouTube channel regarding his debut performance with the Florida Mutineers at the Los Angeles Home Series.

With a style and flair all his own, he appreciated high end designer clothes as well as listening to all types of music, with Drake being his favorite.  He had a passion for basketball and was a diehard fan of the Philadelphia 76ers and the Lakers.

Maurice will be lovingly remembered by the countless people whose lives he touched.  His loss leaves a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those who were lucky and blessed enough to have known him.   He will be missed immensely and loved eternally.

Maurice was predeceased by his paternal grandfather Adan Henriquez and his maternal grandfather Ken Kashiwakura. Left to cherish his many wonderful memories are his parents, Mauricio and Connie (nee: Kashiwakura) Henriquez, his siblings, Chrissy, Roxanna, Shawn, and Jerry; and  his 2 nephews, Adrien and Elijah, and his niece and Gianna, his paternal grandmother Romelia Henriquez, and his paternal grandmother Barbara Kashiwakura.  Also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
