Nancy Grzyb Obituary

Nancy A. Grzyb (nee: Silvay), a lifelong Bayonne resident, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Wednesday, April 13, 2022.
After completing her education, Nancy worked as a registered nurse in 1961 before pursuing her dream of becoming a homemaker and starting a family.
She was a parishioner and longtime volunteer of St. Andrews Church where she also ran Bingo night.  As a diehard Yankees fan, Nancy seldom missed a game and enjoyed rooting for her team.  She appreciated the beauty of the outdoors and fishing with her husband up and down the Jersey coast where they shared many relaxing getaways.  One of Nancy's most unforgettable moments was when she caught a 30-pound striped bass.

Nancy's family came first and foremost in her life, especially her grandchildren who were greatest pride and joy.  Although she is no longer physically with us, her beautiful and loving spirit will always live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Catherine (Rosenstengle) Silvay.  Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 59 years, Thomas, and her daughters, Laura Quintela (Nick), Patricia York, Kathleen Grzyb, Theresa Gonzalez, and Margaret Murphy (Thomas); her adored grandchildren, Jane Pilanski-Forker (James), Steven Pilanski, Ava Gonzalez, Andrew York, Virginia York, Elizabeth Quintela, Dominick Quintela, Julianna Giornalista, William Murphy, and Charles Murphy; and her sister, Barbara Silvay.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 19, from 1:00 to 6:00 pm.  A Catholic prayer service will be officiated by Fr. Arthur Zaba at 5:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Diabetes Foundation in memory of Nancy.

Footprints In the Sand

One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.

After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.

This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."

He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."
