Nellie T. Matlosz (nee: Rapcienski), 95, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 31, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Nellie was born and raised in Bayonne where she resided for most of her life before relocating 3 years ago to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, then to Summerland Key, Florida.
Prior to her retirement in 1987 from Best Foods in Bayonne, Nellie worked in various positions, including: Ogden’s, Maidenform, Adams Tavern, and General Motors.
A devout parishioner of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Parish in Bayonne, she served as usherette and was a member of the school PTA, the Altar Society, the Rosary Society, and the Mt. Carmel Seniors Group. She was a past member of the Queen Wanda Society, a longtime member of the Friends of St. Francis Organization of Bayonne, and a greeter and host for the American Legion F.A. Mackenzie Post #165.
Nothing made Nellie more content than attending Sunday mass with her friends and getting together for lunch dates and an afternoon of playing cards. She prided herself in making all the traditional Polish dishes and desserts and it warmed her heart to pass them down for her family to continue the tradition. She was a diehard fan of baseball and always rooted for her favorite team, the "Mets”. Nellie lived her life with style and grace and was a Beacon of Light to all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her deep and abiding faith in God carried her through her final journey in life and gave her family the assurance of her eternal rest with her heavenly father. She will be deeply missed and remembered for her warm smile, generosity, and compassionate heart and her legacy will live beyond her physical presence.
Nellie was predeceased by her dearly beloved husband, Michael W. (Wheaties) Matlosz, parents, Jozefa and Wladislaw Rapczynski, sisters, Helen Maksimowitz and Victoria Kreiss and brothers, Stanley, Zygmund, Edward, Stephen, Vincent and John. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Michael (Marcy) of Summerland Key, FL; Thomas (Cindy) of Jupiter Farms, FL; Maureen (Joseph) Coupland of Danville, CA; and Deborah (Brian) Kocher of Ft. Myers, FL. Her adored grandchildren, Laurea Faller, Christopher Matlosz, Michael R. Matlosz, Melissa and Brandon Kocher, Joseph, Merryn and Caelyn Coupland, and great-grandchildren, Violet Matlosz, Marek and Hayes Faller, Michael Joseph and Molly Ann Matlosz.

Carmel Church on Tuesday, September 8, at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
