Ralph Durma Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Ralph J. Durma, a beloved lifelong resident of Bayonne, on September 10, 2024.

Ralph held the esteemed position of computer technician at HMS Health Systems, a prominent New York City-based organization. His exceptional technical expertise and unwavering dedication ensured seamless operations, making him an invaluable asset to the company.

Ralph's love for sports ran deep, especially when it came to the Mets and the Giants. He was the kind of fan who would never miss a game and would always be there to cheer on his favorite team's victory. He had an extensive collection of baseball cards, which he had accumulated since childhood, and it was a source of immense pride for him. Whenever the opportunity arose, Ralph could be found out on the field, giving his all in baseball and volleyball games. The joy of playing these sports was something that he wholeheartedly embraced. And when he wanted a change of pace, he'd head out to the serene lakes and streams of Northern Jersey for freshwater fishing, where he could indulge in his love for the great outdoors.

Ralph was a devoted scholar of historical knowledge, spending countless hours pouring over ancient texts, artifacts, and records to deepen his understanding of the past. His passion for travel became integral to his identity, shaping his worldview and providing immeasurable enrichment to his life.

Although Ralph's passing leaves a profound void, his presence and remarkable legacy will be remembered for all eternity.  He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Johnson) Durma; his parents, Stefan and Ewa (Dudczak) Durma; his sister, Margaret Durma; his aunt, Teresa Murawski; two uncles, Mark and Walter Dudczak; his niece and nephews, Kayla, Alex, Omar, and Justin, many cousins, dear friends, and his extended family in Poland.

A memorial mass in Ralph’s honor will be offered on Saturday, September 21, at 10:30 a.m., from the Parish of St. John Paul II of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.

LOVE LIVES ON

Those we love remain with us,

for love itself lives on,

and cherished memories never fade

because a loved one's gone. . .

Those we love can never

be more than a thought apart,

For as long as there is memory,

they'll live on in the heart.
