It is with heavy hearts that the family of Richard T. Toczynski announce his sudden and unexpected passing at his residence on September 4, 2023. Born in Germany on November 4, 1950, to parents Tadeusz and Stefania (Lonski) Toczynski, Richie came to the United States at the tender age of 1, where he resided with his family in Bayonne for most of his life.
Richie served his country proudly in the United States Army from 1972 to 1976. After completing his military service, he held a longtime position as a water and sewer technician for the Bayonne Military Ocean Terminal.
In his earlier years Richie was a member of the Eastside Motorcycle Club and embraced life as a free spirit as he proudly cruised around on his Harley-Davidson. Notably recognized around town as "The Bayonne Legend", Richie was a humble man who never met a stranger as he was a friend to everyone he met.
Above all, Richie was a devoted father to his children and adoring Dziadzi to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom were undeniably his greatest joys in life. Holidays and special occasions weather big or small were treasured by Richie. He made it a top priority to never miss a single birthday or to mail each family member a card with a thoughtful message inside.
Left to cherish Richie’s memory are his wife, Kathy Toczynski (nee: Smith), his daughters Kathryn, Stephanie, and Jennifer Toczynski, and Caroline Luma, and his thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Richie is now reunited in heaven with his parents, Tadeusz and Stefania, and his dearly beloved daughter Donna, and grandson Romeo, as well as his two brothers, Jan and Edward.
Visitation will be held at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home on Friday, September 8, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with a Catholic religious service at 7:30 PM. Cremation will be privately held at Rosehill Crematory in Linden, NJ.
There's magic in a Father's touch,
And sunshine in his smile
There's love in everything he does
To make our lives worthwhile
We can find both hope and courage
Just by looking in his eyes
His laughter is a source of joy.
His words are warm and wise
There is a kindness and compassion
To be found in his embrace
And we see the light of heaven
Shining from a father's face......
