Robert Gasson Obituary

The family of Robert Gasson announces with deep sorrow his unexpected passing on Saturday, July 5, 2025. Born on Staten Island, Robert was raised in Jersey City and resided most of his life in Bayonne. He dedicated nearly forty years of service as a mail handler with the United States Post Office at the Secaucus branch, where he was respected for his hard work and reliability.

Robert had a heartfelt affection for all living creatures, each of which held a special place in his heart.  He especially found comfort in the companionship of his beloved cat and parakeet, whose presence brought him peace and joy. His gentle spirit reached beyond his home, often expressed in the peaceful times he spent outdoors, enjoying the open air. In his leisure time, he appreciated Mexican cuisine, frequently visiting his favorite restaurants, and was also a regular at the Broadway Diner, where he enjoyed spending time and meeting up with friends. Robert will be remembered for his easygoing nature and the genuine connection he shared with others.  Above all else, he treasured the holidays, when gathering with family, which brought him joy and lasting memories.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph J. Gasiewski and Evelyn Gawlick Gasiewski, as well as his beloved brother, Gregory J. Gasiewski Sr., and his beloved dog, Buddy. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Catherine Gasiewski, his nieces, Tara Hauk and her husband Jeffrey, Michele Gasiewski, Kerry Echavarria and her husband José Luis, and his nephew, Gregory J. Gasiewski Jr., and his fiancée, Fabienne. He also leaves behind six cherished grandnieces and grandnephews, Kyle, Luke, Sade, Gage, Natalie, and Joseph.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 13, at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, New Jersey, officiated by Father Michael Barone.

Love Lives On

Those we love remain with us
for love itself lives on,
and cherished memories never fade
because a loved one’s gone.
Those we love can never
be more than a thought apart,
far as long as there is memory,
they’ll live on in the heart.
