Robert A. Petrush, of Wheeling, West Virginia, formerly of Bayonne, entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 13, 2025, at RWJ University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Born and raised in Bayonne, Robert spent most of his life there before making Wheeling his home more than five years ago. He was employed with the I.M.T.T. Corporation of Bayonne for nearly three decades before retiring in 2020.
Known affectionately as “Bobby Pet,” Robert was a warm and friendly man with an easygoing nature and a love for travel. He and his wife, Pamela, shared many memorable cruises to the Caribbean Islands and enjoyed frequent trips to Florida, where they visited Orlando and Disney. A diehard sports fan, Robert was a loyal supporter of the New Jersey Devils hockey team and the New York Mets, rarely missing a game. He also had a passion for football, proudly cheering for the Miami Dolphins. Above all, he treasured the moments spent with his family and the simple pleasures of home. His loyal canine companions, Chloe and Meka, along with his grand-dogs Brodie, Bryce, and Bailey, brought him happiness and comfort through the years. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, quick wit, and the love he shared so freely with those around him.
Robert was predeceased by his loving parents, George and Irene (Wisniewski) Petrush; his brother, George; and his brother-in-law, Michael Letchko. Left to cherish his memory are his dearly beloved wife, Pamela (Niven) Petrush; his daughter, Brandy Rivera, and her husband, Peter; his son, Christopher Petrush, and his wife, Anne; his sister, Christine (Petrush) Letchko; and his adored grandchildren, Philip and Nina Petrush.
A visitation will be held at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home, 20 East 22nd Street, Bayonne, on Saturday, October 18, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Cremation will be privately held at Rosehill Crematory, Linden.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Robert’s name to the American Heart Association or to an animal shelter of your choice.
