Sophie P. Jakubowski, entered into eternal rest peacefully at home on November 11, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. A Bayonne native of eighty-eight years, Sophie relocated to Roseland, NJ in 2012. Before her retirement, she worked as a secretary for the Maidenform Company in Bayonne, a position she held for many years. A lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, she was a member of the Mt. Carmel Senior Citizens.
Sophie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who worked tirelessly over the years to create a warm and loving home environment for her family. Meticulous and orderly, she was passionate about cleaning and maintaining an immaculate household. She had a strict practice of polishing her shoes at home which she routinely did for both herself and her grandsons before stepping outside. Sophie truly had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest. She enjoyed various types of cuisine including Italian, Spanish, Asian, Mexican, and of course Polish. In her leisure time she watched mystery movies and took pleasure in reading.
Sophie was the epitome of love and kindness and those she encountered throughout her life were positively influenced by her while in her presence. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her loving spirit will live on in their memories for eternity.
Sophie was predeceased by her dearly beloved husband, Karol Paul Jakubowski (2012), her parents, Teodor and Jadwiga (Cieminska) Rakowski, son-in-law, James Styles, and siblings, Harriet, Mary, Laura, Wanda, Bertha, Jean, Mildred, Theodore, Joseph, Stanley, Charles, and Lawrence. Left to cherish her wonderful legacy are her daughters, Karen Jakubowski and Elaine Styles, her grandsons, Kevin Styles, and his wife Katie and Craig Styles and his fiancé Caitlin McGarrity.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 16, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral mass in Sophie's honor will be held on Thursday, November 17, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Paul II Parish of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 39 East 22nd Street, Bayonne. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, N.J.
