Stanisław Posluszny “Stan,” proud husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to all, entered into eternal rest peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Cmolas, Poland, Stan emigrated to the United States in 1968 and made Bayonne his home for 57 years. Stan was deeply connected to his Polish roots and to the life he built in Bayonne, where he became the patriarch for much of his family in the United States. Before his retirement in 2006, Stan was employed as a butcher for Thumans Provisions Corp. of Carlstadt, NJ, where he was known for his hard work and dedication. Stan continued to work for the Bayonne Board of Education as a maintenance engineer at the ice hockey rink. During his ten years there, he became fondly known as “Stan-Stan the Zamboni Man.”
Stan’s favorite pastimes reflected how he embraced life: watching the horse races at the Meadowlands Racetrack, driving to Atlantic City with his wife, Maria, to enjoy the casinos, and watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and football on Sundays.
Stan’s Catholic faith was a guiding presence throughout his life. He would often attend Mass at Our Lady of Czestochowa in Pennsylvania, and afterward, he and Maria would enjoy stopping at their favorite restaurants, including the Spanish Tavern. Stan was a Mr. Fix-It when it came to taking care of his home, repairing anything that could go wrong, and offering his expertise to others who needed it.
Above all else, Stan had a deep and unwavering love for his family and valued the sense of togetherness they shared. He lived for providing for those he loved and was thrilled to be a grandfather, and he treasured the bond he had with each of his grandchildren.
Stan was predeceased by his dearly beloved wife, Maria (Wilk) Posluszny; his parents, Piotr and Wiktoria (Fryc) Posluszny; his sister, Janina Malik; his brother-in-law, Stefan; and his brother-in-law, Mieczyslaw Lakomy. Left to cherish his memory, his daughters Eva Lubach (Marek), Linda Posluszny, and Susan Posluszny; his son Richard Posluszny (Maria Nunez); his sisters, Zofia (Halina) Blicharz (Zbigniew); Stella Kolakowski (Casey), Maria Lipa (Kazimierz), Malgorzata Skiba (Stanislaw), Krystyna Lakomy, and Kasia Mazurkiewicz (Marek); his brothers Joseph Posluszny (Michalina) and Jan Posluszny (Helena); his adored grandchildren John Lubach, Peter Lubach, and Lucas Posluszny; and many cherished nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 19, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, December 20, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Paul II Parish, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 39 East 22nd Street, Bayonne, NJ. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
