Stanley P. Kita Jr., a lifelong Bayonne resident, entered into eternal rest peacefully on October 20, 2025, at Bayonne Hospital.
Stanley was employed for more than thirty years as a technician with Verizon Corporation in New York City before retiring in 2001. He served his country with honor and pride in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1968. Stationed on the West Coast as a member of the VA-113 Stingers Squadron, he served aboard the aircraft carriers USS Kitty Hawk, USS Enterprise, and USS Bon Homme Richard. His years in the Navy reflected his steadfast devotion to duty, discipline, and his country, and they remained among his proudest accomplishments throughout his life.
A man of great intellect and a deep love of learning, Stanley built an extraordinary personal library of more than 300 books. His collection reflected the many subjects that inspired him. His shelves were filled with volumes on sports memorabilia, politics, and history that offered perspective and reflection. Each book represented a part of his endless curiosity and appreciation for learning. He was known among family and friends as a living encyclopedia of sports and history, able to recall facts, players, and moments with remarkable clarity. Reading was more than a pastime for him, it was a vital part of how he engaged with the world and kept his mind forever active.
Stanley’s enthusiasm for sports was unwavering, and his loyalty to the New York (now San Francisco) Giants, Mets, Islanders, Knicks, and New York Football Giants never faded. He carried an impressive knowledge of sports history, statistics, and great players of every era. Alongside his love of learning and sports, he also valued health and fitness, maintaining a disciplined routine that reflected his strength, focus, and dedication.
Stanley was predeceased by his parents, Stanley Sr. and Anita (Spiotto) Kita, and his brother-in-law, Richard Fabrycki; and his very close friend, the honorable Corporal Stanley Kopcinski, a highly respected veteran who lost his life in Vietnam.
Left to cherish Stanley's memory are his two sisters, Christine (Richard) Fabrycki and Paulette Cecil; his brother, Daniel Kita, his wife, Catherine; his two nieces, Jacqueline Cecil and Victoria Kita; and his dear friends George Boniecki and Joseph Kochanski, Chaplain of both the Catholic War Veterans Post and the VFW Post 226 Joyce-Herbert Post.
A military service with full honors will be held on Friday, November 7, in the chapel of the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd, Wrightstown, NJ, at 1:30 p.m.
Almighty God,
We give thanks for those who have served
our nation with courage and devotion.
Grant eternal peace to all who have worn the uniform
with honor and now rest from their labors.
May their sacrifices never be forgotten,
and may their spirits find calm seas
and fair winds in your eternal care.
Comfort those who remember them, and
fill our hearts with gratitude for
the freedom they helped preserve.
Amen.
