Stanley Witas Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that the family of Stanley Witas announces his peaceful passing at home on April 11, 2021.

Born in Poland, Stanley emigrated to the United States at the age of 5 where he and his parents settled in Bayonne. At the age of 14 he proudly obtained his United States citizenship.

Stanley developed a strong work ethic at an early age which served him well as he maintained a successful 36 year career as an electrician for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

A free spirit at heart, Stanley had a passion for riding his BMW motorcycle and took pride in keeping it in pristine condition.  In his spare time he appreciated meeting up with friends for a game of pool or frequenting his favorite spot "DiGiorgio's", on Broadway in Bayonne where he enjoyed dancing and karaoke.

Above all else, Stanley was a proud and devoted father and grandfather who was lovingly referred to as “Dziadzie”.  He made it a point to instill in his family the importance of hard work and respect for others.  He will be remembered as a man with a generous heart and compassionate soul.  He will be missed immensely and loved eternally.

Stanley was predeceased by his parents, Jozef and Janina (Soprych) Witas.  Left to cherish his memory are his loving children, Kathleen, Amanda and her husband Ryan, Nina Witas, Nicholas Rama, and Matthew Witas and his wife Kimberly; his adored grandchildren, Carter, Aiden, Braxton, Joshua, and Annaly Witas, and many dear friends from the Port Authority who were like family to him.

Family and friends will honor Stanley’s life during visitation hours on Friday, April 16, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  Fr. Lukasz Kleczka of John Paul II Parish will conduct a Catholic prayer service at 6:30 pm in the funeral home chapel.

Cremation will be privately held at Rosehill Crematory in Linden, NJ.

WHAT MAKES A DAD
God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea.

The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,

Then God combined these qualities,
And then there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it - Dad.
